Once the blue light comes in contact with the skin, the acne causing bacteria called P. acnes absorbs the blue light. After the skin has received Blue Light Therapy, it is then exposed to red light. In cases of server acne, LIGHTWAVE Blue Light Therapy can be used in combination with additional pre-treatments such as Levulan® or ALA (aminolevulinic acid).
